The Teacher
Heidi has a wealth of experience as a cello teacher and chamber music tutor. While her playing has taken her around the world, her teaching work is focused in London, Cambridgeshire and Suffolk. She currently teaches the cello and chamber music at Bute House Preparatory School in Hammersmith and privately from home. Heidi gained her LRAM professional teaching diploma from the Royal Academy of Music in 2007. She has taught chamber music at the Royal Academy of Music’s Primary Department, where she also filled the role of ‘Acting Head of Chamber Music’ and deputised regularly as a chamber music tutor at Junior Academy.
She feels very grateful to have been involved in many exciting outreach, youth and community workshops. Among other projects she has worked with English National Opera’s Baylis programme and travelled all over Bosnia where she worked on unifying musical projects with children from different religious communities.
She has held teaching positions at various London institutions and charities including ‘The Study’ Prep School in Wimbledon, Wandsworth Music Service and London Music Masters. She has also been a teacher on courses including ‘Oxford Cello School’, ‘Stringwise’ and Frinton Festival.
Heidi’s teaching and education work has provided her with valuable experience working with children and adults from a wide range of backgrounds and as a result of this her teaching style is one that is always responsive to the needs of her student. Students of Heidi’s have gone on to study at the Junior Departments of the Royal College and Royal Academy of Music, as well as earn places in the National Children’s and National Youth Orchestras of Great Britain.
